Helping People Find Their Voice, Strength, and Purpose

At Mahaffey Incorporated LLC, we walk alongside men, young athletes, and community leaders when life’s detours shake their confidence, challenge their identity, and leave them questioning what comes next. We know there is a person behind every performance, responsibility, and title—someone who needs to be heard, supported, and reminded that their life still holds purpose.

Through honest conversations, intentional mentorship, and faith-centered encouragement, we help people own their Story, confront their Struggle, embrace Surrender, and live with Significance. That means finding the courage to tell the truth, ask for help, trust God with what they cannot control, and take responsibility for the next step they can take.

Our work calls people to put encouragement into practice: have the difficult conversation, invest in their well-being, honor their commitments, and become a steady presence for those who depend on them. We want the principles shared in a conversation, a mentoring session, or a keynote to become choices people carry into their homes, teams, workplaces, and communities.

Every person we serve matters beyond what they produce or achieve. The athlete has value beyond the scoreboard. The man carrying everyone else deserves support, too. The leader facing uncertainty needs room to learn and grow. Each deserves the opportunity to move forward with faith, dignity, and direction.

One person’s decision to grow can change what a family experiences, what a team expects, and what the next generation learns to believe is possible.

Hear from the people we’ve served as they share their challenges, their growth, and the steps they are taking toward a life of purpose and significance.

“The greatest honor is knowing something from my journey helped someone move forward in theirs.”

“ When I first met Coach Mahaffey, I was coaching JV basketball; he would come in and just observe for 5-10 minutes at the end of practice. He would never interrupt or step on my toes, but 1 day I remember him telling me I needed to be more “disciplined, " and it wasn’t in a “ you’re too nice “ type of way. He was telling me to pay closer attention to the smaller details and how they impact the bigger picture. “

“I'm most proud of the confidence he instilled in me as a young coach. He’s always said, ’ Never be afraid to voice your opinion or ask any questions,, just knowing that I could refer to him with any questions that I may have, whether it be basketball, family, or my personal life, Coach Mahaffey has been someone in my corner from Day 1.

Today I continue to coach, but I’ve also moved into the classroom as a teacher, teaching Sport Administration. “

"Mr. Jamie has been more than a father-in-law to me; he's been a true father figure.  He welcomed me with open arms, loved me without judgment, and helped me become a better man.  Having someone like him meant more to me than he knows.  His mentorship showed me the importance of showing up for the people you love and leading by example.  I'm proud of the man I'm becoming, and I'm grateful for the role he continues to play in my life."

"When we talked about how we could make an impact and build a legacy beyond the classroom, we realized upgrading the mats wasn't just about new equipment; it was about giving our athletes at North College Hill the pride, safety, and respect they deserve. Jamie didn't hesitate; he immediately stepped up to bridge the gap that traditional fundraising couldn't close."

Today, stepping onto a brand-new mat has completely shifted the energy in our room. The growth I'm most proud of isn't just measured in wins, but in seeing our wrestlers realize that their hard work matters and that people are willing to invest in their future, both on and off the mat.

Yes, you absolutely have my permission to share this story on the Mahaffey Inc., LLC website to show the real-world impact of your mentorship and community support. Jamie, thank you to you and your family! The love and support have been a blessing, and I will forever be grateful!

Damon Butler! Love you, champ!

" I didn't struggle too much with things … just the school thing, but you saw right through me. 9th grade, you told me to make the honor roll just to show everyone I can & to get ready for college cause you knew I could, but I just chose not to lol, so I did it lol🤣: that's when I knew you were really in tune with me; never forget it.

*Conversations helped big time... I came from nothing but belief from my mom & Dad, so to get to know you when I was in 4th grade, I think I was comfortable; easy transition. All you talked about was God, prayer & belief, and you hear that so much that it's instilled in you... My Jr. year, 3rd state title, you told us all year we would win state, & we told everybody we would win; nobody believed but us. The crazy part is you told us that in the 7th grade anyway lol, so it was already set in stone!

* Where I'm at now: right now I'm training and coaching kids, trying to give back the best way I can! You & my AAU coach always told me that if you can save one, you did a good job, & right now, basketball is my life (ballislife), but I tackle life and figure it out every day with confidence, knowing things will be ok.

What I'm most proud of is that I've been through a lot but never thought about giving up & my village- you didn't give up on me. I was probably your most difficult player to deal with lol … But I appreciate you, champ!!!"

" Jamie is a generational leader, coach, and mentor.  He is an example of faith and perseverance that men, women, and children can look to in times of struggle.  After knowing him for nearly 40 years, I am proud to call him my little brother and friend."

Dameon Garret

" Starting out playing basketball, someone who really wasn't that good, you would sometimes come and give me advice and coach me as a freshman, even though you were the varsity coach.  You talked me through being confident and trusting myself to take more shots.  That was a huge confidence builder for me moving forward.  Knowing you and the other coaches saw my potential at a young age helped motivate me to work harder.  You telling me to trust myself helped me become a better athlete."

Shy Johnson

"When he came into my life, one of my biggest struggles was confidence and truly believing in myself.  Through his mentorship, guidance, and consistent encouragement, he helped recognize my potential both on and off the basketball court.  He challenged me to trust my abilities, embrace growth, and carry myself with confidence and purpose. Today, I've gone from playing Division 1 basketball to coaching and mentoring others while continuing to grow personally, professionally, and spiritually.  One of the things  I'm most proud of is becoming someone who can now pour into others the way he poured into me.  He has always treated me like his own, led by example, and encouraged me to strengthen my relationship with God.  His impact goes far beyond basketball, and I'm forever grateful for the role he's played in my life!"

"The Power of Detours" is a book that should be required reading in every corporate setting and nonprofit group, and taught in ministerial education.

Jamie Mahaffey not only explores the vulnerability of the human mind, body, and spirit, but also offers God-given wisdom to help readers overcome life's daily challenges.  He candidly gives readers a look at what many people think when they face serious struggles but lack the strength of faith to grasp what God is showing them through the process.  It is an excellent study guide for everyone and includes Godly, key, core, life-saving elements of wisdom in every chapter.

"Working with Jamie completely shifted my perspective. He taught me that my value as an athlete does not end when the game stops. I learned to build character, lead my team with empathy, and embrace who God called me to be beyond the court."

"For years, I carried life's pressure in total silence. Through Jamie’s men's wellness mentorship, I learned to open up, stop carrying every struggle alone, and surrender control to God. My family and my faith are stronger today because of his guidance."

"Jamie’s keynote at our leadership conference was deeply moving. His message on The Power of Detours inspired our staff to set the standard instead of matching negative energy. He helped us see our struggles as stepping stones to significance."
